Dream of Love愛の夢

Dream of Love

Kazuo Ohno danced to Franz Liszt’s Liebesträume (“Dreams of Love”) at the end of 'My Mother,' and also performed it as an independent piece on various occasions.

The earliest confirmed performance prior to the premiere of 'My Mother' in 1981 dates to June 1979. In that version, Ohno appeared in a black suit with a hat and scarf, incorporating movements that somewhat recall mime. The piece was also included as a scene in 'Ozen,' presented during his first overseas tour in 1980.

Within 'My Mother,' Ohno performed the piece without hat or scarf, wearing a suit with white makeup; from the 1995 performance at Theatre Fonte (Yokohama), he began to dance with his natural face after removing the white makeup. In the 2000s, the same music was also used when Yoshito Ohno performed with Kazuo Ohno’s puppet. Another Liszt piece, 'Hymne de l'enfant à son réveil,' was likewise frequently performed, often as an encore.
