My Mother | Theatre Fonte

Kazuo Ohno Retrospective vol.4.
Yoshito Ohno directed My Mother, which hadn't been performed since 1987. He arranged the space construction and finale greatly from the ones in the past. He dealt the space of the theatre as a mother's womb in accordance with Kazuo's words, thus the audience seats were prepared on stage as well to make an arena theatre. Yoshito Ohno often told his students during his workshops that Kazuo was a flower all around, and in this occasion, the audience surrounded Kazuo to see from all around.
Another major change was that Kazuo removed his makeup in the end and danced Dream Of Love for finale as he was.

The music which Kazuo was familiar with when he was a boy in Hakodate, such as Tsugaru Shamisen played by travelling players and Rokudan, one of the Japanese Koto (harp) music, played by his mother were selected. Michihiro Sato played Tsugaru Shamisen live.

Kazuo Ohno Retrospective was held 6 times, starting in April, 1994 with Water Lilies and ending with The Road In Heaven, The Road In Earth in 1997.
