An Invitation To Jesusイエスの招き
This work fulfilled Kazuo Ohno's long-held dream ‘to dance to my heart's content in front of the statue of Jesus in a huge church’. It was performed in 1980 at the Church of Saint-Fiacre in Nancy, and the Church of Saint-Jacques in Paris, during Kazuo Ohno's first overseas tour.
In his essay 'An Invitation to Jesus: Offering Jesus, the Great Butoh Dancer and Teacher', Ohno wrote 'As a believer in Christ, as well as a butoh dancer, I have always dreamt of dancing in church'. 'To me, believing is dancing and dancing is believing. To me, they are as one.'
