Isshin (Single Mind)一心

Isshin (Single Mind)

A solo piece by Yoshito Ohno, performed at the 2nd Kazuo Ohno Festival in 2005. The work is structured as a reflection on his own life, offering gratitude to those who gave him important moments. It was also on this occasion that, for the first time, Yoshito performed wearing the hat and cape used by Kazuo Ohno in 'Divine,' the opening scene of 'Admiring La Argentina.'

In Yoshito Ohno’s training from 2011 onward, “walking with single-minded devotion” became one of the central themes. He often referred to Albert Schweitzer—who set out for Africa with a steadfast sense of purpose—as an example, and practiced walking straight ahead with complete dedication.

From the programme:
Scene 1: City Boy
Scene 2: With Single-Minded Gratitude to Tatsumi Hijikata
Scene 3: With Single-Minded Gratitude to Masakatsu Gunji
Scene 4: With Single-Minded Gratitude to My Father
Scene 5: With Single-Minded Gratitude to My Mother
Scene 6: Nothingness
