A solo piece by Kazuo Ohno presented during Part Two of the Third Kazuo Ohno Modern Dance Recital, which took place in November 1951.
Together with The Devil’s Cry (Kikoku), it was presented as part of Dance of the Mask.
Although several photographs remain of Ohno dancing with a mask, none can be identified as belonging to Laughter.

The programme notes read: 'I dreamed of the opening of a Kabuki performance.
As the joys and sorrows of life unfolded on stage,
I found something quietly heartwarming in one wing of the stage.'
