The Green Table 2017 Anthology
A reimagining of solos from The Green Table (premiered in 2017), featuring a recreated final scene, ‘Prayer Dance’, performed by open call participants.

2025 marks 80 years since the end of the Second World War, and 30 years since the Great East Japan Earthquake. It also coincides with Expo 2025 Osaka, and its theme of “Our Lives”. During this milestone moment, we will perform The Green Table 2017 Anthology with participation from the general public, in the hope of providing an opportunity for people to reflect on life, and raise a hymn in its honour.

Open Call for The Green Table 2017 Anthology
Performers for ‘Prayer Dance’, the final scene of the performance, will be selected at random from among workshop participants. If you are interested in performing, please join one of the workshops first. Workshops are open to all ages and experience levels. Since we’ll be practicing simple choreography, no prior dance experience is necessary. Participation is free. We welcome anyone who wants to move their body and experience dance — we look forward to your application!
‘Prayer Dance’
In ‘Prayer Dance’, around 20 participants form a large circle and dance while walking, much like a Bon Odori. The movements are simple enough for anyone to learn. In the workshop, participants will not only learn the choreography, but also explore how to sense their own bodies and become aware of the space around them. The theme of this scene is to express the spirit of prayer through the body.
The performance will take on Saturday 27 September and Sunday 28 September. If you’d like to perform, you must be available on at least one of these days, and able to attend rehearsals which are scheduled in advance. Please contact us for rehearsal dates.
