White Lotus | Kawasaki City Museum 白蓮|川崎市市民ミュージアム

White Lotus | Kawasaki City Museum

A performance held in the Shoyo Exhibition Space (Grand Promenade) of the Kawasaki City Museum. Conceived as a place where anyone could casually encounter art, the space featured amphitheater-like seating beneath a 23-meter-high atrium, alongside objects embodying the theme of ‘the city and the human being’. The museum suffered catastrophic flooding from a powerful typhoon that made landfall in October 2019; the building was subsequently closed and is now scheduled for demolition.

Preserving the distinctive black-and-white cedar-grain patterned floor that characterized the Promenade Space, Kazuo and Yoshito Ohno danced while Haruna Miyake performed piano and harmonium, creating an impression quite different from that of a conventional theater performance.
