Hironobu Oikawa及川廣信

Dance artist, director and producer. Director of Maison d'Artaud, and leader of the Scorpio Project (later After Scorpio). From 1954 to 1956 he lived in France, where he studied classical ballet and mime with Maximilien Decroux, and later became Yoshito Ohno's mime and ballet teacher. An admirer of Antonin Artaud from early on, he used Artaud's ideas to create his own philosophy of movements combining Eastern and Western techniques. He also produced events such as the Hinoemata Performance Festival, and invited Jan Fabre to perform in Japan for the first time in 1986. Author of "Shu Uemura" (Shichigatsudo, 2013).
