Foumio Takashima高島史於

A photographer. In 1968, while still a third-year student in the Department of Photography at Nihon University College of Art, he photographed Akira Kasai’s solo performance ”Chigo no Sōshi”, marking the beginning of his career as a photographer. In 1969, he photographed Yoshito Ohno’s first solo performance. Since then, he has continued to document stage performances centered on dance up to the present day, photographing numerous artists including Merce Cunningham, Pina Bausch, Meredith Monk, John Cage, Kazuo Ohno, Yoshito Ohno, Masaki Iwana, Aki Takahashi, Toshi Ichiyanagi, Blanca Li, Maki Ishii, Sumire Yoshihara, and Goji Hamada.

He has also photographed dance and music festivals around the world, and has undertaken overseas assignments for travel magazines on 155 occasions. Beginning in 1991, he traveled regularly to Jamaica for eight years, conducting photo sessions with one hundred reggae musicians, including Rita Marley, wife of Bob Marley.

He is a member of the Japan Stage Photographers Society (JSPS) and serves on the board of the Japan–Vietnam Friendship Association.
