Surjit Nongmeikapam
Based in Manipur in India. Surjit is well trained in traditional forms such as Kathak, Kalaripayattu and Manipuri dance as well as Contemporary dance. In addition, he has studied Dance and Movement Therapy, and has worked as a Dance Therapist. He performed his solo performance One Voice at ST Spot in Yokohama in 2014. A dance film in which he appeared, Black Pot and Movement (directed by Chaoba Thiyam) produced with the help of the Japan Foundation in New Delhi, was shown as part of the International Dance Film Festival 2015. In 2009 he co-founded the Nachom Arts Foundation in his hometown, Imphal.
