White Lotus | Odate Cultural Hall白蓮|大館市民会館

A performance presented as part of the Japan Asia Dance Event (JADE) ’93 in Akita. Possibly because the festival also featured performances of Korean modern dance, Chinese ethnic dance, and Ōdate Shin-buyō, the version presented here was shorter than the one performed in Kawasaki City in March of the same year.

Ōdate was the place where Kazuo Ohno spent his middle school years, when he was passionately devoted to track and field. During this visit, NHK, which was covering JADE, filmed Ohno speaking about those days on the grounds of his former school.

JADE in Akita was held across four venues. On the 10th, Kazuo and Yoshito Ohno performed “The Dead Sea” at the Akita City Cultural Center.
