The premiere of Water Lilies. It was performed as an opening program of the THEATER DER WELT 87 (Theater of the World 87) along with Admiring La Argentina and The Dead Sea.

Tatsumi Hijikata, who had directed 3 pieces for Kazuo Ohno by then (Admiring La Argentina, My Mother and The Dead Sea), died suddenly in July 1986. From the Water Lilies, Yoshito Ohno took the part of direction while he co-performed with Kazuo Ohno, which was almost all the case since then.
Yoshito recalled in his workshops as: After Hijikata's departure, I told Kazuo that we make one beautiful flower bloom and offer it Hijikata-san.
