Universal Restaurant | Jazz This Is宇宙のレストラン|ジス・イズ
Presented over two nights at the jazz café This Is in Kushiro under the title “Restaurant of the Universe: Carrying on the 2000 Year History of the Salmon People". Azuma Kobayashi, the owner of This Is, would later go on to plan, produce, and host Kazuo Ohno’s Kushiro performances on numerous occasions. "Restaurant of the Universe" was the first performance held inside the café itself.
On the first night, Ohno performed with bassist Peter Kowald. On the second night, he danced scenes from "Admiring La Argentina" and "My Mother", as well as pieces later incorporated into "The Dead Sea", which premiered in 1985. The performance was photographed by Kunio Miyata, then director of Tsurui Yosei-mura Hospital and former owner of the Naiqua Gallery.
